One of the best-known sport Karate tournament champions to come from the state of Texas, Master Ishmael Robles is a two-time lightweight champion of the United States Karate Championships, one of the oldest and most prestigious sport Karate events in the world. Here is what some of our parents and students have to say about our program:

Daniel enjoys taking Tae Kwon Do lessons and is inspired by the professional staff at Ishmael Robles Martial Arts. He looks forward to becoming a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Master Robles and his staff are wonderful with our kids, Tanner and Jake. They have fun with them but they also command respect and discipline. I’ve seen a lot of changes in them both at school and at home.
-Vincent and Melissa May

We have enjoyed watching our children, Riley and Wesley, develop in their martial arts levels and have also observed them taking more responsibility in setting and achieving their next goal—belt level. Their pride in their accomplishments makes all their efforts, and ours, worthwhile.

My daughter Hannah is 10 and has been in the program for almost a year now. Its been quite amazing the transformation that she’s made, not necessarily with all the discipline that would come like yes sir's and yes ma’am's, we don’t always see, but the thing we notice the most is the respect she has for herself. I think she has grown a lot –not only from a physical standpoint but also mental– while she has been in the program. I really do spread the word to others about how good everyone here at Martial Arts America is and how you all are generally interested in the progression of the kids as they go from belt to belt. My daughter just recently decided to join the Black Belt Club, which for her was a big commitment. We didn’t want it to be something she decided to do because others are doing it, but because she thought she could finish the program and attain her Black Belt. And if she does before she’s in High School, she’ll have a Black Belt, and as a father, I really look forward to my daughter having a black Belt while she’s in college to fight off all the kids. It’s an excellent program and I recommend it to anyone!

Parker and I have been taking Tae Kwon Do at Master Ishmael Robles Martial Arts America for almost two years. It has been a tremendous experience for both of us. Parker has become much more confidant and outgoing plus he is well on his way to being able to defend himself in almost every situation. Being over forty, I love the stretching and aerobics the class demands, and we spar every Wednesday, which is a great stress reliever. The best part of the experience has been the family aspect. We have learned, fought and grown together. It has felt very comfortable for the both of us. The teachers and other students have become our extended family. There is a lot of camaraderie and emotional support from everyone. In another year or so we will achieve our Black Belt, which is our first goal, although I would like to keep going indefinitely because the positive aspects of the program will benefit both of us indefinitely. I would recommend this activity to anyone who wants to stay in shape, create a very strong bond with his or her child, and learn self-defense.
-Tony Prets, Father and 1st Degree Black Belt

My son started at 4 years old in the Little Ninjas Program. Mr. Torres is a very patient, caring and experienced teacher. The children love him. He is now an Orange Belt and a member of the Black Belt Club. He is at the top of his class academically, and has started to show improvement in his self-discipline. The instructors show a personal interest in each student, and inspire them to reach high goals.
-Holly Moffett, Mother

My daughters and myself have been coming here for over 8 months. It helped a lot in their self-esteem and it helps them complete their homework, lets them exercise and get some activity. It has also helped me with the fire department test. It gave me little bit of an edge to pass it.
-Ana Cardona, Mother, Orange Belt

My wife and I agree it has taught our sons a lot of self-discipline and given them a lot of motivation. We use this time as our family time to spend at the end of the day, exercising and learning some of the newer techniques and forms. This is something we will practice for the rest of our lives. We look to martial arts to bring the unity to our family. We enjoy the company at the studio, and we’ve developed some relationships that we will carry with us to the end of our lives. One of the important things that made a positive influence on our children are academic performance; even though they may struggle in some areas, we know we can count on them to do what we ask them to do. Having a structured environment in the martial arts school, we can feel that we use this to our advantage at home and also to show other people what our school is capable of providing to their children as well.

Tae Kwon Do gives us the opportunity to train together as a family in a safe and positive environment.  We call it a family happy hour with a KICK!

The Wheeler Family: Ed, Mary Jo, Margaret, Cathy and William (All Black Belt Family)

It has been a great pleasure to see Kyle grow through his experiences gained through his black belt training.  He has always been a perfectionist, with very high, although often times unrealistic expectations of himself.  Although this may not sound bad, these expectations could be detrimental because if he were not successfuf from the start he would lose interest in the activity and generally never try again.  Karate was different though.  Because the program is structured in a manner that is based upon continual improvement and skill enhancement, he was able to feel a sense of achievement as each belt was awarded.  It taught that striving to do your best and improving over time was more important than immediate perfection.  The black belt training taught him that with hard work and discipline a long-term goal could be accomplished.
